Willow Ledger keeps monthly bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and full-service payroll for small businesses and solo practitioners in Burlington. Every engagement is billed at a fixed figure — you know the number before we open a single account.

the firm

a bookkeeping practice, not a mystery.

Willow Ledger opened on Mount Pleasant Street to give Burlington's small businesses the disciplined, methodical bookkeeping larger firms reserve for larger clients. We close every month against a fixed checklist, reconcile to the penny, and file to the statutory calendar — so the books can answer a question the day it is asked.

before you engage

questions we're asked at the first meeting.

01

what does billing “per engagement” mean?

We quote one fixed monthly figure for a defined scope — your transaction volume, the number of accounts, and your payroll headcount. No metered hours, no invoice you can't predict. The scope is written down and agreed before we begin.

02

do you file the payroll taxes, or only run payroll?

Full-service. We calculate, run, and remit — federal 941 and 940 deposits and Iowa withholding — then prepare and file year-end W-2s and 1099s on schedule. You approve each run; we handle the filings behind it.

03

our books are behind. can you catch us up?

Yes. Catch-up bookkeeping is quoted separately from your recurring engagement. We reconcile the backlog, correct the ledger, and hand you a clean, closed prior-period set before the monthly work begins.

04

which software do you keep the books in?

We work in QuickBooks Online and Xero. You keep ownership of the file and the logins; we work inside your subscription — never a closed system you can't open, and never a file you can't take with you.
